Chaucers is a subterranean cellar bar and restaurant on the busy Exeter city centre High Street, decorated with traditional oak beams and flooring, snug alcoves, Chesterfield sofas and romantic lighting. You will feel a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city while you relax with a glass of wine from our extensive selection, or one of our real ales, which are some of the best in Devon! Our delicious food menu, which has been developed over several years and is unique to Marston's, offers everything from a lunchtime snack to a hearty steak, or you may choose from one of our daily specials. Chaucers also have a selection of special promotions on both meals and drinks, so please call us to find out what's on offer today. We have a policy of not allowing under-14s into Chaucers so we can guarantee a peaceful, relaxing child-free visit.   • Homemade Soup

    Choose one of today's two freshly made soups, served with bread.
  • Crispy Aromatic Duck Spring Roll

    Delicious spring rolls fried until crispy and served with a hoisin dip.
  • 12oz Ribeye

    All our steaks will be cooked to your requirements and then served with a tomato, mushrooms, onion rings and your choice of chips, mashed,new or roasted potatoes.
  • Stilton, Cranberry and Mushroom Wellington (V)

    Mushrooms and cranberries wrapped in Stilton cheese and pastry. Served with vegetarian gravy, roast potatoes and fresh vegetables.
  • Chicken and Seafood Paella

    Our versionof the classic. Pieces of chicken, squid, mussels, prawns and chorizo sausage, cooked with rice, peppers, onions and spices. Served with bread on the side.
  • Breaded Wholetail Scampi

    Wholetail scampi, breaded and deep-fried, served with crisp salad, chips, garden peas and tartare sauce.
  • Chocolate and Toffee Ice Cream Sundae

    Scoops of chocolate and vanilla ice cream layered with crushed meringue and cream, then topped with a rich toffee sauce and wafers.
  • Profiterole and Caramel Cheesecake

    Served with scoops of caramel ice cream and chocolate sauce.
